Deborah Sneddon, Postdoctoral Researcher
Deborah’s research project is funded by Cancer Research UK and focuses on the design, synthesis, labelling and evaluation of novel PET radiotracers to visualise cancerous tumours.
Deborah graduated from the University of St. Andrews in 2011 with a Master of Chemistry (MChem). After completing a second masters in Imaging in the Biomedical Sciences (MSci) in 2012 at Birmingham University, she moved to Australia to start her PhD at Griffith University under the supervision of Professor Sally-Ann Poulsen. Deborah’s project focussed on developing novel imaging agents to target tumour hypoxia and was finalised in 2016.
While completing her PhD, she collaborated with the life sciences division at the Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation (ANSTO) and with the research team of Phillipe Lambin and Ludwig Dubois at Maastricht University in the Netherlands.
Deborah joined the Department of Oncology and Associate Prof. Bart Cornelissen’s group at the Radiobiology Research Institute in 2016, where her research involves the development of new 68Ga, 89Zr and 18F PET radiotracers to target cancer. She is currently collaborating with Prof. Steven Faulkner at the Chemistry Research Laboratory and the PET Radiopharmacy Oxford (PROx) centre
