Sensitive long pulse beam charge monitor for use with charged particle accelerators
Vojnovic B.
An inductive, non-intercepting beam charge monitor which measures the charge in single long-duration bunches of accelerated electrons over the range 10** minus **7-10** minus **5 C is described. The range of electron pulse widths covered by the monitor is extended to 10 ms or more by using an active reactance-multiplying circuit arrangement. The charge response is essentially linear and independent of pulse width. The device is used for beam alignment and for monitoring of pulse dose delivered to a target cell during single-shot rapid-mixing experiments.
