Clinical Trials Laboratory Technician

Biography

Annabel has previously completed a BSc (Hons) in Archaeological and Forensic Science and worked as a trainee biomedical scientist in a busy hospital laboratory which included; the processing of biochemistry and haematology samples, the running of analytical machines, and understanding quality control within and  the effects it could have on patient treatment.

In 2018, Annabel joined the Sample Handling Laboratory team in the Early Phase Clinical Trials Unit as a Clinical Trials Laboratory Technician. As a member of the laboratory team, Annabel helps to process, store and ship the Oncology and Haematology trial patient blood before organising and shipping these to their final global analysis laboratory. Furthermore, she oversees several Oncology trials taking lead on these within the laboratory team and providing training where necessary. Other responsibilities include the creation of audit tools to ensure the standard operating procedures (SOP’s) are being followed and carrying out necessary audits to see where developments can be made to ensure the laboratory is working efficiently.
