Biography

Katie previously worked as a DNA scientist specialising in Sanger sequencing before joining the Sample Handling Laboratory in the Early Phase Clinical Trials Unit. In 2019, Katie graduated from Durham University with a BSc Hons in Biological Sciences.

In her role as Clinical Trials Laboratory Technician, Katie is part of a six-person team which processes research blood samples from oncology trial patients before onward shipping to analysis laboratories globally. The role involves carrying out specified procedures according to defined laboratory protocols and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Katie is also responsible for taking lead on a number of studies for the laboratory which includes liaising with trial monitors and laboratory trial kit supply orders.
