Clinical Trials Laboratory Technician
Lina has recently graduated from Oxford Brookes University with a Master’s in Applied Human Nutrition, after previously obtaining a BSc of Human Biology from University of South Wales. Lina previously worked on a research project, determining the influence of gluten on blood glucose and insulin levels, before joining the Sample Handling Laboratory in the Early Phase Clinical Trials Unit. In her current position as a Clinical Trials Laboratory Technician, Lina is part of a six-person team who are responsible for the processing of
research blood samples from the oncology and haematology trial patients. The processing is varied and ranges from, but is not limited to separating plasma to isolation of peripheral blood mononuclear cells from patient samples, prior to organising shipments to different laboratories for analysis.
This position also involves organising and correct storage of blood and tissue samples, while closely adhering to SOPs, clinical trial manuals, protocols and the requirements of HTA.
