Kanggeon Kim

BSc (Hons) DPhil

Postdoctoral Researcher

Specific killing of cancer cells with DNA damage repair defects

Biography

Kanggeon completed his PhD at the Department of Oncology, University of Oxford with full tuition fee support from the Kwanjeong Educational Foundation. His thesis investigated the synergistic interactions of a targeted cancer drug with temozolomide, elucidating their mechanistic connection to DNA replication catastrophe. This research was guided by Professor Timothy Humphrey and Dr David Clynes and supported by funding from the Medical Research Council (MRC).

Kanggeon is currently working as a postdoctoral researcher under Professor Andrew Blackford. His  research is focused on developing targeted cancer therapies and understanding the associated mechanistic principles, funded by Cancer Research UK (CRUK). His work is integrating super-resolution imaging technology through collaboration with Professor Lothar Schermelleh in the Department of Biochemistry, where he is also affiliated as a visiting scholar.
