We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Finance Officer in the Grants team at the Department of Oncology. You will be a key member of the finance team and will be responsible for the smooth management of part of the department’s large and complex grant portfolio, as well as playing an instrumental role in the standardising and continued improvement of finance processes and procedures.You will be the department’s main contact for the research grants in the portfolio and will act as the finance lead on several large multi-department grants such as the Oxford Cancer Imaging Centre, Cancer Research UK Oxford Centre Biomedical Research Centre and CRUK/MRC Oxford Institute for Radiation Oncology (OIRO), providing top level analysis of spend against budget. You will also provide day-to-day supervision for one or more Finance Officers.You will possess a numerical/science degree or an equivalent qualification, as well as extensive relevant financial accounting experience and an understanding of the grant funding process.Whilst the role is a Grade 7 position, we are willing to consider candidates with potential but less experience who are seeking a development opportunity, for which an initial appointment would be at Grade 6 (£27,629 - £32,958 p.a.) with the responsibilities adjusted accordingly. The development from Grade 6 to Grade 7 would be supported with suitable training and clear objectives and it would be expected that the progression from Grade 6 to 7 would be within 12 months.
