Notable events throughout the year
The Department hosts a number of events throughout the year, and you are also encouraged to attend any other University events that may be of interest - a selection are listed below.
NEW STARTER EVENT
All our new staff are invited to a lunch with the Head of the Department, Mark Middleton, and this is followed by your mandatory training sessions. You should receive a date for this within the first 4 weeks of starting. If you don’t, please email firstname.lastname@example.org
DEPARTMENT AWAY DAYS
The Department runs a variety of annual Away Days to support the development of our different staff groups. This includes Away Days for our Oncology Postdoc Network, Group Leaders, Oncology Clinical Trials Office and Administrators.
PROFESSIONAL SERVICES EVENTS
Professional Services, collectively known as the University Administration and Services (UAS) at the University host 2 key events throughout the year:
The Induction for Professional Services Staff runs once per academic term, and all new professional services staff will automatically receive an invitation to attend the next event.
The Professional Services Conference provides an opportunity for those working in professional and administration roles to get together and engage with issues impacting the University.
RESEARCH WELCOME EVENT
The University runs a termly Welcome Event for Research Staff in Oxford. This event provides an overview of the career and development opportunities and the services and support available to researchers throughout your time here at Oxford. It also gives the opportunity to meet other new researchers from across the University.
Department Seminar and Summer Party
The Department hosts this annual event where Departmental Prizes are awarded, and a Keynote speaker is invited to speak to attendees in the Lecture Theatre at the John Radcliffe Hospital. This event is followed by a summer party at Osler House - not to be missed!
We also host a Christmas event with festive food and entertainment - a great way to celebrate the year.
