The Department of Oncology is delighted to announce the news that our Athena Swan application for Silver was successfully renewed. This is a huge endorsement of our Departmental commitment to promoting equality, diversity and embedding AS principles into our future culture. It is also a recognition of the dedicated work by the AS committee and others in successfully countering harassment & bullying, promoting public engagement, establishing mentoring and increasing support to those with family commitments.

Our application included a number of initiatives that we will be hearing about in the coming months. These include greater opportunity to become involved in public engagement, providing peer-to-peer grant writing support and more transparency around promotion. We would particularly like to thank the Sarah Blagden, Kea Hinsley and all of the AS Committee for their work in collating the information and writing this application.
