Engaging young people with our science provides a valuable link between their school studies and the real-world uses of science. We were able to help students understand the impact science makes to a problem that touches the lives of everyone. Today's GCSE students are tomorrow's DPhil students; we are proud to play our part in widening particpation in science education post-16. During our sessions we have discussed how cancer works, how variable it can be and how biomarkers and imaging play a role in personalising treatment.
Our engagement with school students is a key part of our public engagement with research work. We get excellent feedback from all our audiences, including students who rate us over 4/5 for the quality of our sessions. Just another reason to volunteer for public engagement or sign up to be a public engagement ambassador ... you can be part of an award winning team!
