BACR Student Impact Award '22

"It take a village to finish a PhD (and to do science!)"

The Department of Oncology and the British Association for Cancer Research (BACR) is proud to announce that Tiffany Ma, a PhD Candidate in Oncology at the University of Oxford, is winner of the 2022 BACR Student Impact Award.

Tiffany - who has been studying tumour hypoxia in the Ester Hammond laboratory since 2018 - was recognised by the Associated for her passion on public engagement, science communication, and representation of the Department and early career researchers across an array of activities.

Professor Ingunn Holen, the BACR Chair, said:

“We were delighted to receive very strong applications for this brand-new award, demonstrating an amazing variety of high-quality citizenship activities carried out by our PhD students. Tiffany Ma was the chosen winner based on her comprehensive portfolio; she particularly impressed by taking the initiative to lead activities supporting her peers, her creative approaches to public engagement and fostering of links with industry”

Tiffany has written about her journey thus far in a blog. You can take a look at this interesting read through visiting the BACR website.
