Antibody Immunotherapy for Colorectal Cancer Treatment.
RESEARCH SUMMARY
Norah is a DPhil student in Prof. Sir Walter Bodmer’s lab at the Department of Oncology, MRC WIMM.
She is studying the potential therapeutic effect of a CD3 X PLAP bispecific monoclonal antibody using colorectal cancer cell lines as a model. She is especially interested in the killing of bystander cells in a tumour.
BIOGRAPHY
Before joining Prof. Bodmer’s lab, Norah worked as lecturer and taught undergraduate students basic principles of biochemistry at Mohammad Almana College for Health and Science, Saudi Arabia.
She has an MSc in Medical Biotechnology from the University of Windsor, Canada. Her BSc is in Biochemistry from King Saud University.
Norah’s ultimate goal is to contribute to the development of affordable therapy to treat cancer patients around the world, as well as to educate the public about cancer so that they have a better understanding of different therapies.
Outreach
Norah and her friend Majd Abdulghani, who is also reading for a DPhil in Oncology, started a scientific podcast in Arabic, called Sodium Show, with the aim of making science accessible to the general public and encouraging young Arab men and women to pursue careers in STEM fields.
