Patient and Public Involvement in Research
We want to ensure that the trials we run in OCTO benefit from the perspectives and experience of people affected by cancer. We request input from patients and the public from the beginning of a trial through to the end.
PPI Representative Roles
Shape Trials
PPI reps are involved in deciding which trials we run, bringing their knowledge and experience to Clinical Trial Development Group Meetings.
Support Trial Delivery
Our reps help during the entire life of a trial. They input on trial design, trial documents, sharing results (and more).
Sit on Committees
Our reps are valued members of committees such as Trial Development and Trial Management groups, and Steering Committees.
Plan Wider Outreach
PPI reps help to plan wider scale PPI outreach such as national working groups and involvement in community outreach projects.
Watch: Patient and Public Involvement with Oxford Cancer
We draw our PPI representatives from the Oxford Cancer PPI group which has a panel of people with experience of cancer – as patients, carers and family members - who work in partnership with researchers.
Oxford Cancer have a growing network of patient groups that represent a wide range of cancers, both locally and nationally.
