Vanessa Gregory

IT & Data Manager

Vanessa Gregory is the Department IT & Data Manager. She is responsible for oversight of the research data infrastructure provision within the Oncology department.

Her primary role is to manage research data storage both within the department and through cloud services, providing guidance to researchers on secure and cost-effective management and handling of data. She also has oversight of the Oncology IT Support team.

Vanessa joined the Oncology department in 2025 after 17 years IT experience in the Oxford University Diabetes Trials Unit – most recently as Head of Informatics.

She was previously the Technical Director for a commercial software company, working as a software developer and team leader for 18 years. She started her career as a mathematician and software developer in financial and medical risk analysis modelling.

She has a degree from the University of Oxford in mathematics and philosophy.
