The Oncology Researcher Network (ORN) is a postdoc-led initiative within the Department of Oncology that represents and supports postdoctoral and early-career researchers. Our mission is to foster an inclusive, collaborative, and empowering environment by promoting academic and social engagement, amplifying the voice of postdocs in departmental decision-making, and connecting researchers with resources and development opportunities. Acting as a bridge between the department and its early-career researchers, ORN ensures open communication and meaningful representation.

Our key goals include:

  • Community Building: Hosting regular meetings and events to strengthen connections within the postdoc community, and to support leadership and professional development.
  • Resource Networking: Encouraging the sharing of research tools, knowledge, and experiences to boost collaboration, productivity, and cohesion across the department.
  • Career Planning: Organising the annual ORN Away Day and career-focused seminars to showcase diverse career paths in science and support researchers in planning their professional journeys.

The current committee consists of:

  • Hala Estephan, Postdoctoral Researcher in Ester Hammond group, Postdoc Rep Athena Swan Committee and Postdoc Rep of the Department of Oncology in the Medical Sciences Division

  • Tess Stanly, Postdoctoral Researcher in Eric O’Neil Group

  • Ignacio Torrecilla, Senior Postdoctoral Research Scientist in Kristijan Ramadan Group

  • Rebecca Dagg, Postdoctoral Researcher in Madalena Tarsounas Group
