Celebrating International Women's Day 2025
10 March 2025
International Women's Day is celebrated annually on the 8th March. This year, the campaign theme was 'Accelerate Action', emphasising the importance of taking steps to improve the rate of progress worldwide. Data from the World Economic Forum suggests that, at the current rate, full gender parity will not be achieved until 2158. Sharing knowledge and encouragement is key to accelerating action.
As outlined in a 2013 United Nations General Assembly resolution, full and equal access to and participation in science for women and girls is imperative for achieving gender equality and empowerment. While significant progress has been made, women in STEM continue to face systemic barriers and biases.
This International Women's Day, we're spotlighting some of the brilliant women in STEM at the Department of Oncology. From overcoming challenges to finding support and inspiring the next generation, these women share their journeys, insights, and advice.
